Indication Role of Organizational Culture in Promoting Organizational Citizenship Behaviors (OCB) Nature, Content and Functions

Today organizations are operating in a highly competitive global environment.Therefore managers use different mechanisms such as downsizing of organizations, automation of works for promoting productivity of their organizations. Although these mechanisms are useful but one of the most important concept that has been considered as effective factor in promoting of productivity and effectiveness in Organizations, is having committed employees. The employees that effort beyond of their formal tasks. Organizational researchers have mentioned such behaviors that are beyond of employees defined tasks, as organizational citizenship behaviors (OCB) and identified examples of such behaviors as altruism, conscientiousness and so on. Because of increasing importance of these behaviors in promoting organization productivity, relatively considerable researches have been focused on identifying effective factors for nurturing OCB. As a result, common factors such as contextual variables (group norms, organizational structure and culture) were identified for establishment and development of OCB. Because the culture is a important contextual variable in forming to employees behavior and attitudes, this article indicate the role of organizational culture in promoting organizational citizenship behaviors.
