Energy Saving in Iran, Non Price Based Solutions

The main aim of this study is to search for non price based strategies to decrease energy consumption in Iran. The data for this paper was gathered through a combination of different methods involving interviews, questionnaires and document analysis. The findings show that since the whole cycle of energy production and supply in Iran is controlled by the central government, the role of public sector in energy consumption management through scientific research, reformation in budget allocation in energy sectors and implementing modern technology, is undeniable. The management of demand-side to decrease energy consumption is also investigated in this study. Strategies ranging from pricing, education and change of life style to exploiting renewable energies, high tech facilities and improvement of recycling is advised.
