Determining the components of citizenship education in guidance schools for developing a conceptual framework

Abstract:
This research was conducted to determine the components of citizenship education in guidance schools in order to develop a conceptual framework in this regard. The descriptive method was used for this research. Population for the research included all secondary school teachers working in Mazandaran province, accounted for N=5724. A stratified sample of n=383 was selected according to Morgan tables. A questionnaire with 144 items and with the overall reliability degree of. 93 was used to collect data required. Factor analysis, Friedman test and content analysis were all used to analyze data collected. Findings showed that citizenship education had four domains, namely social and political behavior with 17.8; law orientation with 15.3; national/religious factor with 10.8 and continuous development with 9.1 significance of variance. Other data from the study also showed that the majority of the teachers in the study believed that there was not a direct and significant relation between the importance of each component and the degree of attention given to them in the school text books.
