The US and China: From Strategic Competition to Economic Partnership

Although shape of the US-China axis is defined within a cooperative and partnership framework, it does have a competitive feature too. The author attempts in this paper to consider rising of China and also its probable impacts on various fields in international system, especially on the USA. Therefore, using Realism and Liberalism, as the main conceptual approaches, this paper explains behavioral patterns of the two powers through different aspects. The strategic competitive interaction between the US and China and their economic partnership, as understood through the above-said approaches, is focused here to show that according to realistic definition of their interests, pattern of interaction in the US-China axis is a combined pattern, which as needed comprises a range of competitions up to partnership.
