Analysis of Human Cognition and Affective Concepts in Islamic Thoughts

The author of the article with the aim of elucidating the goals of human being creation and illustrating the prophetic missions has developed the two mentioned aspects (cognition and affection) and related Koran verses and islamic traditions. In connection with the survey، the article discusses six key concepts in two important aspect and three topics: structure، content and process. Intellect and heart as two psychological structures are elucidated. Education and purification as two developmental processes in actualizing potentialities are discussed from viewpoint of holly Koran and islamic traditions. Document and archival and descriptive research and a selected texts of holly Koran and traditions and psychological studies are analyzed. Intellect is considered as the axis of cognition and conception. Science as a collection of knowledge and accomplishments in mind actualizes cognitive and structural talents and potentialities. On the other hand، heart as a structural part of human spiritual and innate creation has a main role in catharsis and edification. Catharsis refers to positive views and affections of heart such as mercifulness، sympathy، attachment، familiarity، invocation، Penitence. Edification refers to purification of heart and avoiding carnal and sensual desires like: covetousness، envy، niggardliness، rage، callousness…and avoiding abasement and falling into lowest depth of degradation. Catharsis and edification are effective in purification of heart and avoiding sins، carnal and sensual desires like: haughtiness، wrath، callousness، fear، agitation، regret…On the other hand، they flourish positive aspects، wishes and commendable moral qualities like: intimacy، sympathy، attachment، familiarity، invocation، tranquility، humility، penitence.
