Design Standards in Central Libraries of Universities in Isfahan

The objective of this research was to study the extent to which standards are observed in the designing of central library buildings at universities in Isfahan.. This is done based on the model established by the American Library Association. Design/ Methodology/Approach: The six central library buildings of universities in Isfahan were surveyed using a checklist. Descriptive statistical indexes were employed to analyze the data collected. In the central libraries of only two universities - Isfahan University of Technology and The University of Isfahan - more than 50% of the standards for designing library buildings were met. With regard to the extent to which library building standards are observed, Isfahan University of Technology is first level and Payame Noor University of Isfahan is at the bottom of the list. On average, 44% of the design standards for library buildings are observed in designing the buildings for central libraries in Isfahan universities.
