Islamic Awakening and Iranophobia A content Analysis of Western Press March-April 2010

Iranophobia has reached its peak in the European and American press specially in the light of the emerging revolutions and uprisings in the region. Therefore it is worth paying attention to their approaches and reveal their policies in this regard. Evaluating the discourse of Western press leads us to the ongoing confrontation between Iran and the West and provides us with a neo-orientalism and new-imperialism approach which has the capacity to shed light on the cultural confrontations as well as intercultural relations serving as the theoretical framework for a better analysis in the regard. Portraying Iran as a serious threat for the region, together with illustrating Iran as anti-democracy by western media are among the most important findings of this content analysis study.
