THE INFLUENCE OF MASSAGE THERAPY ON DEPRESSION, ANEXIETY AND SEVIERITY OF NAUSEA AND VOMITING UNDERGOING CHEMOTHERAPY PATIENT WITH BREAST CANCER.

Background And Objective

Methods
This study was a clinical trial that 34 patients with breast cancer were studied. After exposure of patients to ensure some degree of depression and anxiety and having nausea and vomiting during previous chemotherapy, patients randomly divided into intervention and control groups. Intervention patients had three sessions back massage addition to usual care received. Control group only received usual care. In the first 24 hours after each massage questionnaire were completed.
Results
Results shown that anxiety days of 2-4 with (P=0.0009, P=0.04, P=0.03) and depression with(p=0.03, p=0.03, p=0.01) between two groups statistically significant differences but nausea with (P=0.29, P=0.07, P=0.51) and vomiting with(p=0.53, p=0.84, p=0.8) statistically significant differences not seen.
Conclusion
According to research findings that show the effects of massage therapy on reduction anxiety and depression, is recommended as a method of massage available, convenient and cost-effective to improve anxiety and depression. massage reduced nausea and vomiting but not be too significant and further studies will recommended.
