of Efficacy of Topical Combination Solution of Salicylic Acid %2 and Erythromycin% 4 with Topical Solution of Erythromycin 4% Alone in Mild to Moderate Acne Vulgaris Treatment: A Double-Blinded Randomized Clinical Trial

Acne Vulgaris is one of the most common skin disorders involving pilosebaceous units resulting in hyperkeratinization، sebum production and inflammation. It involves 85% of individuals aging 12 to 24 years a physiologic phenomenon in this age group. 50 patients with mild to moderate acne vulgaris were subdivided in two equal groups، groups and it is (group A & group B each other with 25 patients) in a double-blinded trial; the therapeutic effect of topical erythromycin solution 4% was with combination of erythromycin 4% and salicylic acid 2%. In this recruitees 14 (28%) patients were male and 36 (72%) were female. The mean age of patients was 20. 3±3. 2 15 to 29 years. The mean TLC after treatment in erythromycin group was 21. 6±6. 6 while in combination therapy group it was 9. 8±5 (P=0. 0001). 16% of patients in erythromycin group and 76% of patients in erythromycin plus salicylic acid experienced complications including irritation، erythema and xerosis which was significantly different (P=0. 0001). The efficacy therapy with combination of erythromycin 4% and salicylic 2% is more than erythromycin 4% alone in the treatment of facial acne vulgaris، but side effects were more prominent in combination therapy.
