Designing Conceptual Model for Strategic Performance Assessment: Based on Dynamic Strategic Value-Creation Chain

Why besides existence of numerous approaches, methods, and models in the field of strategic management, still, as majority of experts confess, high percentage of organizations have been frustrated in implementing their strategies? An important part of this frustration, may be, is because of inefficiency of these approaches in monitoring strategic performance. Organizations lack the ability to continuously monitor their strategic performance and conform themselves to outside complicated and dynamic environment. This research, places the value-creation chain as the core axis for designing organizational strategic performance assessment model. And, instead of considering a static and divisional view and offering simple and linear relations, puts the dynamism as the core element of the chain. The question asked here is that “what are the variables and dimensions of such model and how they are related to each other as a model?”. In the first stage, reviewing the literature, influencing variables and their dimensions were identified and for finalizing them, Delphi method was used. Then, System Dynamics logic was applied for determining the dynamic hypotheses and causal relations among the dimensions. Finally, a new point of view was suggested based on which, in order for an organization to capture a certain level of performance, constantly and in the long range, it has to create and attain the capability to realize and monitor high level of complexity and instability, and realign and reproduce a set of factors considering their inherent dynamism
