Judgment: From Postmodern Literature to Islamic Thought

Abstract:
Postmodern thought has affected all area of humanities; however, its base is found inthe philosophy of language, where theorists speak of judgment about significationand meaning; the critic is also seen as a judge. In this article, we try to vetpostmodern thought concerning judgment from six various aspects, calledjudgments. Despite the correctness of some of its points, we are going to cast doubton some other angles. Our method of criticizing them is through Islamic thought,which derives from the Quran and traditions. The findings confirm that despite thecommon grounds between the two sides concerning deferral in meaning ormultilayered signification, unlike postmodern perspective, Islamic hermeneuticsspots the aforementioned concepts in the light of presence.
