Effects of teaching life skills through Creativity storytelling components elementary

Abstract:
Background
An individual’s creativity, potentials, and abilities are manifested in his thoughts, ideas, writings, behaviors, and actions and are among the fundamental requirements for today’s complicated, swift modern life. Creativity is one of the characteristics that can ideally be developed and nurtured during an individual’s early years of life. Undoubtedly, part of the educational system’s inefficiency is due to its failure to pay adequate attention to creativity. All educational systems should provide children with considerable opportunities to develop their creativity.
Objective
The present study aimed at investigating the effects of life skills education through storytelling on creativity among primary schoolchildren.
Methodology
The study was based on the pre-test post-test experimental design with a control group. The research population consisted of all third-grade female students attending primary schools in the City of Qazvin in 2012-2013 school year. Multi-stage sampling was used to select the sample. The sample was subsequently divided into two groups, i.e., control group and experimental group. Next, the experimental group received training in six 30-45-minute sessions. The Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT) (Form B) was used as the data collection tool both before and after introducing the independent variable into the experimental group. The collected data were analyzed through ANCOVA (analysis of covariance) test.
