The Effect of Chrysin Nanoparticles on Preventing the Growth of MCF-7 Cancer Cells

Abstract:
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE
Chrysin is a naturally, bioactive compound which is extracted from plants, honey and propolis. Chrysin has pharmacological activity, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anticancer properties. This study was performed to compare the effect of Chrysin and its nanoparticles on MCF7 cell line.
METHODS
In this study, chrysin nanoparticles were prepared using chitosan, and the nanoparticles prepared dissolved in water and cytotoxic effects of concentrations of 20, 40 and 80 μM / ml and chrysin dissolved in DMSO at the same concentrations were investigated on MCF7 cells. Cell viability was measured using MTT assay after 24, 48 and 72 hours of treatment and compared with the viability of the control samples.
FINDINGS: Chrysin and Chrysin nanoparticle prevented the growth and proliferation of MCF7 cell line breast cancer. These effects depend on the concentration of chrysin and its nanoparticles and it has been shown that the nano-particles of chrysin at a concentration of 40 μM in 72 hours after effect on the cells are significant with p <0.001, while at the same concentration in 48 And 24 hours later with a significant p <0.01. The IC50 is approximately 40 μm.
CONCLUSION
Chrysin nanoparticles exhibit antiproliferation activity on breast cancer cells in vitro, and its effect is greater than chrysin. The results of the experiment showed that it is statistically significant at 40 μM compared to chrysin
