Characteristics of Traffic Police from Tehrani Citizens› Viewpoint

some part of police organization and effectiveness, as an effective and vast organ whose main mission is establishing order and security in the society, is associated with public cognition and satisfaction from police and its performance. Therefore, getting to know about public view about traffic police as one of the sections of police forces, and taking into consideration the type of its mission and its close relationship with public is of significant importance. The present research aims at identifying characteristics of traffic police performance, and its ranking from Tehrani citizens› point of view.

research methodology is quantitative (survey) and the research is of descriptive type. includingplus residents of Tehran, achieved through Cochran sample volume formula. Sampling is conducted through using cluster multi-stage method, and questionnaires have been completed by residents of zone of Tehran municipality. The research data is analyzed through using single-sample T test, Friedman test and Kruit- Bartlet tests. In order to evaluate the research credit and content, the viewpoints of elite and experts have been used. Findings and

results of single-sample T test indicate that the highest average ) belongs to variable of ideological characteristics, the average of belongs to variable of apparent and physical characteristics of police.
