Evaluation of Climatic Conditions for Greenhouses in some Regions of Iran

Utilizing greenhouses for growing ornamental flowers and vegetables have attracted especial attention during last decades especially in arid areas of the world. Generally, designing, building, and choosing the cover type to be grown in the greenhouse, depend mainly on several fundamental factors such as climatic conditions, plant type and financial condition of the investor. Meanwhile, climatic conditions like temperature (average monthly temperature and difference between day and night temperatures), radiation (light duration, intensity and quality) and wind (maximum/average speed and direction) have particular importance in sustainable greenhouse systems. In this article due to existence of different climatic regions in Iran, effective climatic graphs, including temperature and radiation, for several major cities were presented to be used as guideline in design and management of greenhouse and the crops to be grown according to Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) method. In addition, relative humidity was added to the graphs and the wind graphs (maximum speed and average monthly speed) were plotted separately. At the end, essential recommendations for growing thermophilic vegetables for different areas of Iran were suggested.
