Identifying the Components of Professional Development of Universities Departments Chairs and Higher Education Institutions (A meta-synthesis study)
Universities and higher education institutions need more than ever competent and effective managers and leaders to face the threats and challenges of the modern world. This research for the purpose of investigate studies on identifying the components of professional development of universities departments chairs and higher education institutions.
The method was qualitative and a kind of meta-synthesis. The research population consisted of all the related sources with professional development of departments chairs in universities and higher education of institutions from 2000 to 2019 there were 3127 sources. First, 105 sources were selected based on abstract. Then, 79 sources were selected based on the content, which eventually analyzed 60 sources as related resources by theme analysis examined. In order to verify the quality of data, validity and reliability have been provided.
Based on the synthesis of related articles, the components of professional development of departments chairs in universities and higher education institutions includes five main categories: leadership / management skills, educational skills, research skills, individual skills and Counseling skills.
The five main themes from this meta-synthesis study can be effective model for designing professional development programs for departments chairs in universities and higher education institutions and have useful results to improve the quality of universities and higher education institutions.
