The Effect of Educational Intervention Based on BASNEF Model on Life Style of Cancer in Female in Rasht

Cancer is undoubtedly one of the most worrisome of these diseases and discovering ways to prevent it is the main goal of researchers. The purpose of this study was to raise the awareness of people to adopt lifestyle and healthy practices for cancer prevention.

This study was a quasi-experimental, interventional control study. The study population was women with cancer in Rasht. The sample size of the case and control groups was 40 individuals, 80 women were voluntarily selected and randomly divided into two groups of 40 each. Lifestyle questionnaire was used for data collection. At first the lifestyle questionnaire was completed by the groups, then the experimental group received 8 sessions of cancer prevention education based on BASNEF model. After the training, the questionnaires were again completed by the two groups. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS software and covariance test.

According to the results, the effect of educational intervention based on BASNEF model on life style was significant (P <0.01). The significant effect of educational intervention based on BASNEF model on lifestyle indicates that the mean of dependent variables in these groups is different.

The results of this study showed that BASNEF model-based education program was effective in raising awareness, improving lifestyle and thus promoting cancer preventive behaviors in women.
