Surrealism can be defined as literary creation outside any rational or moral boundary. A surrealist author writes down whatever goes on in his or her mind, resembling a state of dreaming or hallucination. The present paper adopts a descriptive-analytical method and offers a critical analysis of Bahram Sadeghi’s “Malakoot” [Heavens] in a surrealist framework. The findings suggest that Sadeghi’s story well conforms to the principles of surrealism through using major surrealist techniques such as writing while sleeping and dreaming, stream of consciousness, madness, imaginary phenomena, surrealist time and place, eroticism, and ambiguity. The findings suggest that Sadeghi’s story well conforms to the principles of surrealism through using major surrealist techniques such as writing while sleeping and dreaming, stream of consciousness, madness, imaginary phenomena, surrealist time and place, eroticism, and ambiguity.
