Gatekeeping of war news from the perspective of Syrian Media Experts

Given the importance and place of war news in the media and media policies in how to select this type of news, this article seeks to identify the strengths - weaknesses and opportunities - threats, the Syrian media and determine strategies for better selection of this type of news for the media of this country. The method used in this research is the Strategic Analysis or SWOT method. The statistical population of those two groups are university professors, Editors, and Secretaries of the media (as executive managers in the media organization). The sample size is 30 people and the sampling Method is snowball.The data collection technique was used as a combination of semi-structured interview and balanced questionnaire. For data analysis, in interview analysis from King Theme Analysis, in questionnaire data analysis from SWOT matrices, for ranking strengths and weaknesses of Internal Factor Evaluation Matrix (IFE) and for ranking opportunities and threat points from matrix External Factor Assessment (EFE) and QSPM matrix has been used to prioritize strategies and select the optimal strategy. The results of the research show that the best strategy for the Syrian media in selecting war news is the SO strategy.
