Relationship between internal control source and mindfulness with mental health of high school male students

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between the source of internal control and mindfulness with mental health of male high school students in Robat Karim. The method used in this study was applied in terms of purpose and in terms of data collection was descriptive and correlational. In this study, the statistical population consisted of all high school male students in Robat Karim city and from among them, a sample of 90 people was selected using a random cluster method. In order to collect information, three standard questionnaires of Rutter control source (1966), Brown and Ryan mindset (2003) and Goldberg and Hiller (1972) mental health questionnaires were used. In order to measure the reliability of the questionnaires, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was used, the value of which was higher than 0.7 for each questionnaire; Content validity was also used to assess the validity, for which the questionnaires were approved by relevant experts. The data obtained from the questionnaires were analyzed by SPSS software in two descriptive and inferential sections (Pearson correlation test and multivariate regression). Findings showed that there is a significant positive relationship between the source of internal control and mental health. This means that students who have a source of internal control have better mental health. There is a significant relationship between mindfulness and mental health. This means that mind-conscious students are more mentally healthy. In order to predict students' mental health based on the source of internal control and mindfulness, the simultaneous method of multivariate regression analysis was used. The predictor variable of the internal control source is able to predict mental health. It should be noted that in this model, mindfulness was not significant.
