A Model for Criminal Profiling in the Detection of Violent Crimes
Considering the effect of personality traits on the tendency to commit violent crimes, one of the effective strategies in dealing with criminals and discovering violent crimes is to recognize and analyze the criminal personality of criminals; Therefore, the aim of the current research is to present a model of criminal personality analysis of criminals in the detection of violent crimes.
The current research is applied in terms of purpose and mixed (qualitative-quantitative) in terms of data type. In the qualitative part, a semi-structured interview with 17 psychology and criminology experts related to the subject was used purposefully until theoretical saturation was reached. In the quantitative part, the statistical community includes elites and activists in the field of violent crime detection in the number of 81 people, who were selected and questionnaires were distributed among them. To analyze the data in the qualitative part, the qualitative content analysis method was used, and in the quantitative part, confirmatory factor analysis, structural equations and Lisrel tests were used.
The analysis of the findings of the qualitative section showed that the identified pattern includes four dimensions of extroversion with three components, incompatibility with two components, neuroticism with three components and psychoticism with four components. Quantitative findings also showed that the inconsistency dimension with the highest amount is the most effective dimension affecting the criminal personality of violent criminals.
Considering the impact of the identified dimensions and components on the criminal personality of criminals in committing violent crimes, attention and focus on the dimensions and characteristics of the criminal personality of criminals in preventive intervention programs and operational measures to detect violent crimes is emphasized.
