Investigating the performance and challenges of the Knowledge Corps in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province

The evolution of modern education in Iran dates back to the constitutional era, which changed its form and content from traditional to modern with fundamental changes in the education system. In the first Pahlavi era, with the establishment of various laws, the issue of public education was addressed more seriously. However, modern education in the second Pahlavi era suffers from a lack of a coherent program in the field of public education, especially in rural and nomadic areas. In order to solve this problem, in January 1972, the plan of the Knowledge Corps was approved, according to which the educated youth, after a training course, went to educational areas instead of military service and served as the forces of the Knowledge Corps. This project affected the Iranian educational system for nearly two decades in all areas, including the rural and nomadic region of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province. The present study has been compiled using the documents available in the National Documents and Library Organization and local data with a descriptive-analytical approach and seeks to answer the question that the performance and challenges of the Knowledge Corps in the field of expanding public education in What was the Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari region like? Based on this, the research findings show that despite the mountainous location, the predominant nomadic and rural population and also the many problems of implementing the plan of the Knowledge Corps, this institution was able to generalize in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari province between 1342 and 1357.
