Anthropological study of the functioning of bazaars in Tehran (a case study of Nawab and Naib al-Sultaneh bazaars in the 12th district of Tehran)

Since Tehran was chosen as the capital by Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar, after the walls were pulled down and the neighborhood was formed, bazaars with many names were created to meet the daily needs of the people. The purpose of this research is to investigate the structure of bazaars, their function and the interactions between the residents of the neighborhood and the sellers. It should be noted that some of them have disappeared and some of them have lost their use, but some of the bazaars, including Nawab and Naib al-Sultaneh, which are still standing, are considered the study community of this research. . In order to investigate the functioning of bazaars, this research has used in-depth ethnographic methods such as observation, questionnaire, audio recording and camera, and library information and interviews with the veterans of bazaars. The results of the research showed that the economic function, social function, cultural and political function and the interaction between the people of the neighborhood and the business, the presence of similar shops in each bazaar and their components can be mentioned among the common indicators among bazaars.
