After the Second World War, the United States defined hard power (military, economic) in the framework of its foreign policy strategy, which is an example of the strategy of blocking penetration and containment, and this period continued until the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. Later, we have witnessed the movement of America towards soft power and the reduction of military issues in this country's approach in relation to the international system, which can be mentioned as an example of the introduction of the New World Order plan, the Greater Middle East, etc. With the beginning of Barack Obama's presidency, we saw a change in the concept of power, and in American foreign policy, a concept called smart power was proposed, which was a combination of hard and soft power and interaction with the international system, solving international challenges as a group. Collective security and environmental issues were clear examples of that, but with Donald Trump's effectiveness, the United States of America became confused in the concept of power, because Trump opposed the media and the press and introduced them as the enemy of America and the nation, and basically He did not pay attention to the approach of public diplomacy and the international system, and in his decisions regarding global issues such as the climate agreement, NAFTA and the Trans-Pacific Treaty, he tried to upset the equations, therefore unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA, tension with the European Union and tension with North Korea shows the turmoil in this country's diplomacy in the Trump era.
