The effectiveness of schema therapy on attachment styles and cognitive regulation of emotion in people with dark personality
The purpose of this research was the effectiveness of schema therapy on attachment styles and cognitive regulation of emotion in people with dark personality. The current research method was a semi-experimental research with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The statistical population in this research was all the people who referred to counseling centers in the 8th district of Tehran in 1401, and after distributing the questionnaire, they were found to have dark personality traits. In this way, 24 people from among the statistical population of the study were selected as a sample using available sampling method, who are willing to participate in this treatment course, then 12 people in the experimental group and 12 people in the experimental group with a non-random assignment available were included in the control group. In order to measure the research variables, questionnaires of demographic characteristics, dark triangle of personality by Johnson and Webster (2010), attachment styles of Collins and Reed (1990), emotional regulation of gravity (2001) were used. To analyze the data, the multivariate covariance test (MANCOVA) and its assumptions were used, and this analysis was done with SPSS26 software. The test results showed that schema therapy training has significantly increased the secure attachment style, decreased the avoidant attachment style, decreased the ambivalent/anxious attachment style, and increased emotion regulation in people with dark personalities. schema therapy training can be considered as an effective intervention in people with dark personality.
