Evaluation of Adherence to Treatment regimen in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes
Performing preventive activities with the active participation of the patient and treatment adhering regimen is the most important behavior related to diabetes that ensures the health of the client and reduces the severity of its complications. The aim of this study was to Evaluation of adherence to treatment regimen in patients with type 2 diabetes referred to Sanandaj diabetes clinic, 2018.
In the present study, 181 patients with diabetes referred to the Sanandaj Diabetes Clinic with inclusion criteria were selected. Study data were collected using a demographic Checklist and a standard treatment adherence questionnaire in chronic patients. Data analysis was performed using SPSS-16 software at a significance level of P <0.05. Data analysis was performed by descriptive (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) and inferential tests.
The mean and standard deviation of the overall score of treatment adherence was 116.25±18.90. The mean overall score and score of different dimensions of treatment adherence in patients with abnormal glycosylated hemoglobin was significantly higher than patients with normal glycosylated hemoglobin (P <0.001).
It is necessary to carry out more investigations and provide solutions and more precise planning in order to increase compliance with the treatment of these patients and prevent the occurrence of complications due to non-compliance with the treatment.
