Feasibility Study of E-Reference Services in Tehran Information Centers

The principal goal of this research is the feasibility study of presentation electronic reference services in such centers. In this research, we apply measuring methods in different stages. Through this way, we attempt to focus on Special governmental information centers in Tehran which use internet for acquisition and dissemination of information and also for reference services, methods of collecting information has betty based on questionnaire. The achieved results show that use information technology (IT) for acquisition, processing, storage and retrieval, and dissemination of different shape of information (oral, illustrative and textual) is a medium level. Also it is shown that 44% of these centers use internet Just for reference services and only 24% of them use internet for different purposes. Results obtained by other researchers imply that more than 65 centers, which contain about 88% of them, for presenting reference services, exert both traditional and electronics reference services
