Towards Globalization of the Persian Literature: An Overview of PersianLiterature Websites in the Internet

Abstract:
This research aims to evaluate the way of presenting information about Persian literature on the internet. To do this the method of survey with a webometrics approach was applied. The criteria used for evaluation of these web pages are: frequency of Persian literature websites, period, formats of literary texts, language, type of content and extension. The findings show that the number of specialized websites is more than that of general ones; the number of websites about classical literature is more than modern literature and the websites about the format of verse are more compared with prose. Although most of the retrieved websites include full-text information, Persian literature is not included in these websites. Implementing a project to digitize Persian literary texts and their accessibility through the internet is one of the solutions for improving the status. On the whole, the number of websites about Persian literature is very low. Comparison of the findings of this research with an unpublished one in 2004 indicates that the number of such websites decreased in 2008.
