Effective Factors on Clinical Education Improvement from Nursing Student's Viewpoints of Abadan Nursing Faculty in 2009

Introduction & The philosophy of clinical education provides nursing students the experience to acquire and apply the theoretical information in clinical situations in order to help nursing students to achieve this important goal. Therefore, this study intended to evaluate factors affecting the improvement of clinical nursing students of Abadan. This was descriptive – cross sectional study in which the sample size of the study included all the students of Abadan nursing faculty. Data collecting tool was a questionnaire consisted of two parts, of demographic data and factors related to clinical education, including five general areas pervasive individualism, Clinical teacher, clinical, educational planning and evaluation of clinical trials. Each question in these areas was based on a five-point rating scale rating. Data analysis was performed by using the SPSS software. Based on the results of the area features, individual characteristics’ obtained the highest scores (2.52); the domain of clinical evaluation obtained the lowest scores (2.36), the most and the least effective clinical factors in improvement of clinical education. Totally, innovation of the clinical instructor (52.5%) and student's interest (51.2%) were the most factors and considering critical thinking in course plan of nursing students (11.2 %) and the feel of corporation in evaluation (11.2percent)were the least effective factors in improvement of clinical education. As innovation of the instructor and interest in view of students were considered as the most effective factors in improving the clinical training, choosing innovative instructors, setting creativity and innovative workshops for instructors and ways to increase motivation and interest in students can improve education quality.
