Relations of Power and Political Thought of Liberals in Iran 1356-1960
Relations of Power and Political Thought of Liberals in Iran 1356-1960 Abstract: During the last century, Iran's history has experienced four period in which liberals have taken power. Mohammad Mossadegh, Shapur Bakhtiar (in Pahlavi regime) and Mehdi Bazargan as prime minister, and Abulhassan Bani Sadr as president (after the Islamic Revolution), came to power. The question that comes to mind is: How had the dialectics of power relations been? The causes and factors of political instability and the loss of power in the short term are among the issues that occupy the mind. It seems that the cultural and ideological factors of Iran don’t provide a good context to implement liberalism. In this paper, we will use the method of Laclau and Mouffe’s discourse as an effective instrument for the identification and explanation of political phenomena, and analyze the impact of the dialectic of the power relations on appointment and dismissal of Bani Sadr.
