The Model for using policy research in policy making: A case study of the housing sector
Policy research is one of the methods of establishing a relationship between the two areas of policy making and science, which provides scientific and practical advice to policy makers. Accordingly, due to the importance of the issue, the present study has been conducted with the aim of designing a model for using policy research in the policy-making in order to encourage policymakers to use it. The research method is a combined method that in the first stage using theme analysis, first the concepts and aspects of using research policy, resulting from reviewing texts and interviews, were identified and then using the conceptual mapping method, the relevant model was designed. In the second stage, in order to validate the designed model, the method of confirmatory factor analysis was used. The statistical population included policy makers and researchers who were purposefully selected. Research findings indicate that doing research and its other features is conducted, and the policymaker perspective of the research category, which is the product of individual and acquired characteristics, have the greatest impact on motivating policy makers to use policy research. Policy stakeholders (third priority) can also force policy makers to engage with researchers to use their reports.
