Investigating the effect of social capital indicators on the accountability of government institutions: Case study of Kermanshah
The article examines the relationship between social capital and the accountability of government institutions. To examine the independent variable, four components of social capital have been used, including: awareness, public trust, institutional trust and informal political participation, and the dependent variable is the accountability of government institutions.
Quantitative research method and technique used is a questionnaire. The statistical population of the study is the population of 18 to 65 years old living in Kermanshah. Using Cochran's formula, 384 people were selected as a sample and randomly. The relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable has also been measured using multivariate regression.
The findings show that the variables of "informal political participation and awareness" have a positive effect on the accountability of government institutions. In other words, the higher the level of informal political participation and awareness in a society, the more desirable the accountability of government institutions is. However, the influence of the variables of "public trust and institutional trust" on the accountability of government institutions is not confirmed.
