Modeling marital conflict based on attachment styles: The mediating role of early maladaptive schema domains in women on the verge of divorce

The aim of this study was to model marital conflicts based on attachment styles with the mediating role of early maladaptive schema domains in women on the verge of divorce.

The research method was descriptive and the type of study was correlational. The statistical population of women with marital conflicts was on the verge of divorce in Tehran, who had referred to family counseling centers in the third district of Tehran from May to November 2016. The sampling method was multi-stage and the sample size was determined based on G Power 440 statistical software.

The structural model of predicting marital conflicts based on attachment styles with the mediating role of areas of early maladaptive schemas in women on the verge of divorce has a good fit. Among the attachment styles, only the avoidant attachment style affects marital conflict through the domain of exclusion and orientation of early maladaptive schemas, and the ambivalent attachment style affects marital conflict through the domain of deafness. Also between insecure attachment styles. Avoidance / ambivalence and early maladaptive schemas in the field of cut and rejection, self-management and dysfunction, impaired constraints, other orientation, excessive ringing and inhibition, but there is a negative relationship between secure attachment style and early maladaptive schemas. There is a reverse.

Knowing the schemas helps to create solutions to change people's cognition and thoughts and leads to marital satisfaction by improving relationships.
