Comparison of abnormal personality dimensions and emotional schemas in patients under methadone maintenance treatment and ordinary people
The aim of the present study was to compare the abnormal personality dimensions according to the DSM-5 and the emotional schemas in patients under methadone maintenance treatment and ordinary people.
the plan of the present study was descriptive and causal-comparative. 35 patients under methadone maintenance treatment were selected by available sampling method from 3 addiction treatment centers and 35 ordinary people were matched with patients under methadone maintenance treatment with age, gender, marital status and level of education.
The results showed a significant difference in the Comprehensibility and Higher values components of the emotional schemas scale, as well as Antagonism and Disinhibition components of the pathological personality dimensions scale between patients under methadone maintenance treatment and ordinary people.
Therefore, it can be said that the mentioned maladaptive emotional schemas and pathological personality dimensions can be considered in the field of prevention of substance use and intervention on patients under methadone maintenance treatment.
