Modeling the mediating role of thinking styles in the relationship between human agency and self-regulation of knowledge by choosing coping styles with academic stress
Stress in the general sense and academic stress as one of its important types can challenge the dynamism and creativity of education and the optimization of human potential, so knowing the factors affecting the choice of coping styles seems essential.
To explain the effect of human agency and emotional intelligence on the style of coping with academic stress through the mediation of nostalgic tendencies in male students.
Descriptive-correlation research was of structural equation analysis type. The statistical population was the male students of the second secondary level of theoretical branches in Kashan city in the academic year of 2013-2014, 497 students were randomly selected. Students answered questionnaires of Cote's (1997) agentive personality, Schering's emotional intelligence, Andler and Parker's coping styles, and Havelena and Holak's (2004) nostalgic readiness. In order to analyze the data and test the hypotheses, correlation coefficient and structural equation method were used using SPSS.26 and lisrel 8.8 statistical software.
The parameters of the model were all significant (p < 0.01), the factor loading of the questions was higher than 0.4, which shows that all the components have a good similarity.
Human agency and emotional intelligence directly and positively influenced the problem-oriented coping style and directly and negatively affected the emotion-oriented and avoidant coping style with the mediation of nostalgic tendencies.Keywords: human agency, emotional intelligence, academic stress coping styles and nostalgic tendencies
