Developing a Structural Model of the Relationship betweenPrimary Maladaptive Schemas and Emotional Regulation withMarital Satisfaction with the Mediation of Resilience in MarriedWomen Referring to Islamic Lifestyle Counseling Centers
The purpose of this study was the relationshipbetween primary maladaptive schemas and emotionalregulation with marital satisfaction with the mediation ofresilience in married women.
The statistical population of thepresent study was made up of all married women who referredto the counseling centers of the Family Foundation with anIslamic lifestyle approach in Tehran in the year 1400. The finalsample size was 401 people by calculating overestimation dueto predicting dropout of the subjects, which was used nonrandom and available method due to the wideness of thestudied population. To collect data, questionnaires ofdemographic characteristics, marital satisfaction of Enrich(1983), early maladaptive schemas of Young (1998), emotionregulation of Garnevsky et al. (2002) and resilience of Connorand Davidson (2003) were used. Then the resulting data wereanalyzed using path analysis method by SPSS-26 and AMOS18 software.
The results showed that initial incompatibleschemas have a direct effect on marital satisfaction in women.Adaptive and negative emotion regulation has a direct effecton marital satisfaction in women. Resilience has a direct effecton marital satisfaction in women. Early maladaptive schemashave an indirect effect on marital satisfaction through themediation of resilience in women. Adaptive and negativeemotion regulation has an indirect effect on maritalsatisfaction through the mediation of resilience in women.(p>0.001).
Based on the results of the research, it can be saidthat the variables of resilience, emotion regulation and initialincompatible schemas can play an important role in maritalsatisfaction and the need to pay attention to these importantvariables in divorce prevention programs should beconsidered.
